Awards in the field of teaching
On June 26, 2017, Stephan Moebius and Martin Griesbacher were awarded the "State Prize for Excellent Teaching/Ars Docendi at Austria's Public Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences and Private Universities" by the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy in the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna. Stephan Moebius and Martin Griesbacher, who are already winners of the university teaching prize, received the award for their research-led teaching.
The Department of Sociology was awarded the University of Graz's "Incentive System for the Advancement of Women" for 2015. It achieved third place university-wide. The Department of Sociology is actively committed to the advancement of women and gender equality.
Seraphine-Puchleitner Prize 2015:
Em.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karl Acham received a recognition award for excellent doctoral supervision.
In 2014, the Karl-Franzens-Universität teaching award "Lehre:ausgezeichnet!" went to Stephan Moebius (for the lecture Sociological Theory I).
In 2013, the Seraphine-Puchleitner Prize for the best dissertation supervisor at the University of Graz went to Christian Fleck.
In 2012, Stephan Moebius and Martin Griesbacher received the "Lehre:ausgezeichnet!" teaching award from the University of Graz (for the research internship Cultural Sociology of Everyday Life).
