Incoming Students
Erasmus and similar exchange programmes
Our department and the neighbouring departments offer a wide range of courses in English for Erasmus students who do not have sufficient knowledge of German. In some courses taught in German language, it may also be possible to write the final examination or term paper in English after consultation with the lecturers.
On UniGrazOnline, students can find a list of courses that are currently or have been offered at our university in the past. These courses can be filtered by language. Please note that not all courses taught in English-language are offered every semester.
The course programme for the coming academic year is usually available from June each year. Syllabi (i.e. more detailed descriptions of the course programme) are regularly published on UniGrazOnline and can be viewed there at the beginning of the semester at the latest.
Most BA and MA courses are offered every semester, but the contents may change from semester to semester, especially if they are offered by other lecturers. The BA Research-Oriented Practical and the MA Research Laboratory last two semesters.
The Office for International Relations takes care of the Learning Agreements and all formalities in connection with Erasmus and similar exchange programmes.
Change of study place from another (Austrian) university
If you wish to transfer to Graz from another university in Austria or abroad where you studied sociology and wish to continue (and complete) your degree in sociology here, you must have your previous academic achievements recognised. The recognition itself takes place in UniGrazOnline. Please consult the Graz curriculum to find out which examinations you have taken are eligible for which modules or courses .
In general, we will try to ensure that all your ECTS points are recognised. However, there may be minor "losses" of ECTS points.
You can obtain advice from the Chair of the Sociology Curriculum Commission during his office hours. Please bring a list of the examinations you have taken with you.
