Carla Greubel
UGO profile: LINK
Carla Greubel is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Graz, Austria. Drawing on qualitative research methods, she investigates practices of developing, implementing, using, maintaining and resisting digital devices and infrastructures in the public sector and the lives of older people. Her work is informed by Science and Technology Studies (STS), Age Studies, and feminist approaches to care. Through her research, Carla aims to contribute to more inclusive, caring, and sustainable sociodigital worlds.
In the ChanGe DigiTs project (2024-2026), conducted together with colleagues at the University of Graz and the University of Hamburg, she investigates the digital transformation of the German state pension system. A central question is how the digital transformation affects the role and experiences of the (mostly older) volunteer advisors who support citizens in their application for and questions about state pension.
Before coming to Graz, Carla conducted her doctoral dissertation at the university of Utrecht (Netherlands). The dissertation provides a critical and empirical investigation of how “good ageing” is done and transformed in the context of four digitalization initiatives for older people in Europe. From 2021-2024 she served the executive board of the Socio-gerontechnology network, where she now continues in the committee for early career researchers.
