In May 2024, Laura Kunz joined the digital societies research group as PhD Candidate and project assistant at "[Sm-AI-R] - Smart Regulation of and by Low or No Code Development Platforms for AI in Organisations". During the course of the project and her associated dissertation project, her focus is on the co-constitutional dynamics between the logic with which AI operates and the agency of workers, both individually and collectively (i.e. as trade unions). She examines how the possibilities for workers to determine how and what they work on are renegotiated when working with AI. Key interests in her work are the different knowledge practices and the epistemic conceptualisation of problems and solutions as they arise through the use of AI.
Previously, she completed her Master's degree in Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna, during which she specialised in digitalisation in the medical field and health policy. Alongside the topic of work, this area remains a key focus of her research. In addition, she has already gained research experience during her time as an assistant in the project "Smart4Health: Citizen-centred EU-EHR exchange for personalised health" and at the STS research unit at the University of Padova.
