Resonant Self-World Relations in Ancient and Modern Socio-Religious Practice

After ten years of funding, the International Graduate School on Resonant Self-World Relations in Ancient and Modern Socio-Religious Practice is drawing to a close.
The closing conference of the International Graduate School, in which Stephan Moebius from the Institute of Sociology participated as Principal Investigator, offers a structured and critical examination of how resonance theory can be applied across various disciplines and whether the hype surrounding resonance is itself a symptom of modern societies.
The focus is on the methodological challenges posed by the interdisciplinary nature of the participating disciplines – sociology, classical studies and religious studies – and on assessing the analytical value of the concept of resonance for specific research questions, whether in relation to texts, artefacts, rituals or musical experiences from antiquity to the present day.
